The Stockwhips, Bullwhips, Whip Holder and Whip Bag are all of the highest quality.
Designed and handcrafted exclusively for Whip Basics.

My name is Robert Amper, I'm the teacher from the Whip Basics DVDs.
I was looking for a good and constant way to support animal shelters worldwide.
Well, I found it... With the Whip Basics online shop.

All the WB profit from a whip or bag sale here - every single Cent - goes to animal shelters in the respective whipmaker's country, sent directly by the whipmakers as donation. So there are absolutely no hidden "processing charges" or other nonsense.
If you want to verify that, contact the whipmaker, you'd like to place an order.

I know that this won‘t generate fortunes.
But a single Cent is better than no Cent.

Right?

Leather or Nylon

We offer both. But what is the better choice? This is more a question of philosophy than facts. When you crack a nylon whip, you never have to care about the weather. If it snows, or rains (or both...), wet grass or muddy ground - you don't have to care. When the whip gets wet, let it dry.

It gets dirty - clean it with water and let it dry. But... Nylon (Paracord) is an artificial material. When you want a living, a classic material, then your choice should be a whip made from leather. Latigo or Roohide. You have more to care about when you crack a leather whip, but you'll be rewarded with a masterpiece of craftsmanship and the smell and feeling of an incomparable material - Leather.

Please take a look on our whips and - if you need more infos - feel free to contact our whipmakers.
They'll gladly answer all your questions.

The WBSR 6 ft. target whip was built specifically for precision and/or high speed targeting. It begins with a densely rounded kip core. Then kip bolsters, encompassing the roohide bellies. The final step before the all-kangaroo overlay is one last bolster which fully encircles the second belly and extends nearly the full length of the whip. It features a slender 10 inch steel spike handle with a subtle fancy braiding pattern - exclusively for the WBSR target whip.
The transition zone is reinforced for additional target precision.

On the butt of the handle you’ll find the exclusive Whip Basics stamp. And - if desired - you can have your own Initials (two letters) instead of the “WB” logo, stamped on the butt of the handle to personalize your whip.

This is a traditional 7 foot long bullwhip, created by Victor SanSoucie, with a handcrafted 8 inch exotic hardwood handle. The thong is made from a light color Indian Tan Latigo leather. This leather offers virtually the same strength and durability of roohide. Transition, turks, head knot and fall are in jet black. This whip is 8 plait, all the way to the fall hitch no strands are dropped! It starts with 8 strands and it ends with 8 strands. So it’s great for multiple cracking and also for target work.

A traditional made Florida cowwhip by Rhett Kelley with a 6ft. thong, made from nylon. But the 14 inch handle is made from African Blackwood (first time ever on a Florida Cowwhip!). The pattern on the shot loaded thong is created like the coral snake, which lives in the area that whip is made. It’s waxed and features a special solid black "tapering twist" finish on the thong - the tapered twist which most Florida cow whips feature, instead of the fall hitch as on other whips. Again - masterly crafted and great to start whipcracking in style.

These Crackers are made from white bonded nylon thread
and will give you a clean, very sharp crack.

They’re made from thin but extremely durable material - so they’re perfect for targeting, too,
but… they’ll tangle more easily than the thicker poly crackers.

These crackers won’t make you a better whipcracker, and they are no hi-tech items…
They’re nothing more than well braided crackers with a very long “fluffy” end,
so you can cut them to your own preferred length.

This whip holder is made from thick, heavy and durable cowhide. It’s closed with a Tenax snap; Tenax snaps are renowned throughout the world as the most hardy and durable. The whip holder is a two part system and comes with a black keeper, made of stretching material and Velcro to ensure the whip can’t uncoil. We offer the same whip holder in a special basket weave pattern. The colour is darker, and it features that unique “western style” look. Again - it has the same, secure Tenax snap.

This is by far the most stylish - and safe! - way to carry a whip on your belt.

This is a 7 Ft. Target whip, created by Guy Washburn, USA. Guy Washburn is an excellent woodworker, and that reflects in the beautiful exotic hard wood handle.

Made from Nylon in green and grey it's a whip for every weather condition. No matter if its rain or snow... You can crack this beauty whenever you like. This whip is constructed for precise whip work - for target cracking. If you're looking for a whip to use on a stage or your training at home - give this beauty a try.

This whip does not have the traditional multiple bellies that most other whip makers employ, but instead has a "core" composed of multiple layers of cross linked high density polyethylene (HDPE), fiberglass, nylon, kapton polymide, and vinyl. The finished thong is then pressure impregnated @20psi with 4045EP paraffin @250deg.f. for 15min, then cooled to 0 deg.f. for 30min, basically exposing the thong to temperature extremes it is unlikely to experience in normal use. Think of it as Cryogenics for whips. It's expensive to produce, but it results in a superior product which can be consistently reproduced. The whip maker can guarantee that the thong diameter on a matched pair will be within a tolerance of +/-.020 at any point it is measured.

This whip is a melding of science and tradition.

This high end bag is made out of heavy and durable cowhide leather. It’s crafted by hand and is completely padded on the inside to give your whips the protection they deserve. The zipper is made from black nylon and is smoother than a metal zipper, yet nearly tearproof and it can’t scratch your whip! The padded and stitched lining is made from a natural material - protective but soft-feeling cotton. This bag comes also with a removable leather strap - so you can put it safely onto your shoulder.

The hardware is brass. Massive, expensive brass from a German manufacturer.
Not Taiwanese.

The bag can carry about 3 - 5 whips, accessories, spare falls and crackers.

But the idea behind this bag is not the mass storage.
It’s only for your most precious whips.

If you spend a few hundred dollars on a high end whip…
You probably don’t want to carry - or store it - in plastic.

In the end, it all comes down to a question of philosophy. Not more.
If one says “For me a whip has to be made from leather. Otherwise it’s not a whip
you can give him the best nylon whip ever made. He won’t accept it anyway.
The times where nylon whips were clumsy and plump are gone for long, long years now.
Today’s nylon whips are perfect in performance and accuracy.
And…they don’t need any maintenance.

Don’t crack it on sand, don’t crack it on concrete, protect it from rain and moisture.
And don’t crack it on wet grass. I’m talking about leather whips...

The great advantage of a nylon whip is the fact that you don’t have to bother if it’s sunny,
if it’s raining or the grass is dry. You can crack it whenever, wherever you want.

Some people compare absolute high-end leather whips with poorly made, cheap nylon ones.
Guess who wins? However, if you compare a high quality nylon whip with a cheap leather whip,                the winner is? Exactly.

Neither makes any sense at all. If you compare, then compare at the same level.

A high-end leather whip with a high-end nylon whip. Handling, performance and accuracy.
The result will surprise you. At this end, there’s only a slight difference (at all) wirklich notwendig?.
If it comes to the feel, okay, that’s a totally different story.
Leather is leather. It feels different in your hand and it looks like - leather.

And so we’re at the beginning.
The leather whip is made from a natural material, but you have to be careful where
and when you crack it. The nylon whip is made from an artificial material,                                             but you don’t have to look out of your window before you go out to crack it.

If you judge both materials, make sure that you compare on a neutral base and the same level.

I’m sure that you’ll find what suits you best then.

Robert Amper

Often whips are offered and sold as “Roohide whips”.
But then parts of the inner life are made from kip and/or cowhide.
Don’t get me wrong - that’s absolutely okay, because it doesn’t affect
the performance in any way.

I just think it’s important to let the customer know exactly
what he’s spending his hard earned money on.

Sometimes you read “high quality roohide” and then you get just 2nd grade quality.

Here we talk about 1st grade roohide. And nothing else.
It may be a subtle distinction. But it is an important one.

So here on the WBSR you have detailed infos on which materials are used in every whip.
When a whip is declared as “made entirely from roohide”, it is - except of course the fall…-
entirely made from roohide!
Here’s our guarantee: If you open one of our whips which is declared as entirely made
from roo, and you find anything else than 1st grade roohide in the braided part,
you’ll have your money back and you’ll get a new whip for free.

Even if you don’t buy a whip from us - now you know what you should ask
if someone offers a “Roohide whip”…

If you want to learn more about our whips… The respective whipmaker
will gladly give you every information you want.
